Pete Silva

Singer/Songwriter/Poet/Voiceovers

Biography:

Pete Silva can only be described by one word: Eclectic.  He is a singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, poet, and voiceover artist from New England. His music reflects a diverse range of influences, including everything from The Beatles, John Mellencamp, Gordon Lightfoot, Van Morrison, Burt Bacharach and Hal David, João Gilberto, and Antônio Carlos Jobim.

As a poet, his Northeastern roots run deep, with further influences by Robert Frost, Henry David Thoreau, Emily Dickinson, and Walt Whitman.

Silva’s work often draws from his experiences growing up along the rocky Atlantic seacoast and in the rural towns of Southern New England.  His album, "Simple Love, Simple Life," and his book, "Late November Walk: Poems and Select Lyrics," highlight his ability to blend lyrical and literary storytelling with melodic compositions.

His creative career spans several decades, during which he was involved in wide-ranging endeavors.

Besides music and writing, he was a prominent radio announcer and television personality in Southern New England, and has worked extensively in voiceover and commercial production. He also worked for many years in the professional audio field.

But writing and performing music has always been his first love.

He has performed in countless venues throughout the country as a singer and multi-instrumentalist.

In addition to his music and poetry, Silva teaches English literature, media studies, and broadcast journalism, reflecting his deep engagement with both the artistic and academic worlds.  All of these experiences are alchemized into his creative production and are what informs his work and life.
